don’t worry your head
Two and a half weeks? Really?
Summertime does this – it just slips away. I guess I’ve been busy, but my excuse isn’t going to win any sympathy.
See, I scored an Xbox 360 for my birthday, which is totally awesome. Elite, even. My brother Phil came through for me, as he sometimes does. It’s good to know people who make lots of money and split bills with other co-habitants. Leaves ‘em flush for good gift giving.
Then I received Guitar Hero II, again as a gift, and it’s the sort of time-sucking game that I haven’t allowed myself to get into since my Mortal Kombat days. Easy to start and pretty difficult to master, which is just about the right barrier to entry for an aging nerd like myself. It doesn’t hurt that people I consider peers in this whole time-wasting exercise like Jody, Sean and Nick are all out there doing better at the game than I am, which provides the sort of competition that turns a casual, fun piece of software into a near obsession.
Finally, a trip to Kingston this weekend turned into another impromptu gift-receiving occasion, and a Nintendo Wii came my way. Yes, that console that you still can’t find very easily here in Ottawa, apparantly readily available a couple hours down the 417. I had to pay for half of it, which makes it a semi-gift I guess, but hey. A $150 Wii is good enough for this guy.
Needless to say, all of this leaves me nerding out in front of the TV a little more than usual, and hovering over eBay auctions, trying to scoop up a few games on the cheap. And it seems I’ve just missed out on a listing, which I blame you people for. Stop taking up all my time, will you? Christ.

So I should be up around your way in either early Aug or early Sep, depending on how my schedule works out. At that time I would be more than happy to school you at some GH2. I haven’t played for a week or two but I shall begin rehearsals. In any case, don’t get another cat until after I visit.
There will be no more cats. It’s my guarantee to you.
War Pigs was kicking my ass a little bit, but now it’s five stars. Onto the next set!
