moving, in general, sucks
How timely, to have stumbled across this amusing bit of hypertext regarding a shady moving company, just now.
My brother is moving up to Ottawa, and will be staying with us for the month until he gets a job, an apartment, and the rest. Although he didn’t hire the Quick Boys mentioned above, he did rent a van from UHaul, and I can hear the groans rising up already – had I thought to do the appropriate Google searches I could have suggested he take his business elsewhere. (Seems everyone knows how terrible UHaul is but us.)
He rented a van for Saturday at 6AM, and wouldn’t you know it, they didn’t have a truck available for him to use until Sunday at 4:30PM. Why would they offer him a reservation if they wouldn’t have a truck around? One can only assume that the management at UHaul thinks giving people a hard time on the last day of their lease is a great thing to do.
So, you know, UHaul sucks. Pass it on.

I wholeheartedly agree with your hatred for U-Haul Dan! They have ruined my moving adventure on a few occasions, but for some reason, I keep crawling back
I moved on Monday – rental minivan from Budget (likely more expensive than U-Haul… but it did the trick. A few sore muscles later that day and the van was returned. Phew.
Yeah. Not helping matters was the cross-Ontario nature of the move – it’s near impossible to get a reasonable price from any rental agent when you’re racking up serious kilometres, so UHaul’s relative-bargain price is hard to turn down in that situation.
