A1 Great! Part lies, part heart, part truth, part garbage.

our home and native band

So we arrived at the show early, about 4:30PM or so. Turns out we were invited for sound check.

The band performed a few warmup songs for the small crowd, which was basically us and a couple dozen contest winners and other hangers-on. I’m sure it’s torture for those guys to do the ‘meet the winners of local rock radio station promotion’ in every city they go to, but they had to have been thrilled to meet the Porchlight crew. Who doesn’t want to pose with an energy-efficient lightbulb?

the Tragically Hip

And of course, there was the show itself. A fantastic concert, loud and long, and although the three songs I had really wanted to hear didn’t make it into the setlist, I have no complaints. Grace Too remains a masterpiece in a live setting, and anytime I get Springtime in Vienna in performance, well. The Kids Don’t Get It? Wheat Kings? Three Pistols? I don’t know how much more I could take.

Christina was our professional photographer on the evening, with a picture or two to share. And there’ll be more over at the Porchlight weblog, once I get around to it.

Awesome evening all around. Topspeed.

Sounds like a cool show man. I would love to see them live someday myself. They are a great band.
