too good to be good
So, yeah, after writing the last thing, my laptop screen started flickering when I opened and closed the lid. Sent it in to HP for repair. I would totally have been in my backyard working (or should I say ‘working’ – it’s the new economy and I am of it) all week during the heat wave, but instead I’ve been nerding out in the basement, taking breaks here and there for familial obligation. Which is fine.
But I miss my laptop. That’s what I’m getting at.
I tried to write a little something the other day, and keen RSS feed eaters probably picked up my quarter-assed attempt to sing the praises of the new Velvet Revolver disc, called Libertad. I bailed on that at the last minute, though. So if this seems repetitive to you, well, stop refreshing your readers so often and get a life already. (Listen to the tunes at the side there. They’re newly uploaded. The Last Fight. Power ballad you can’t dance to.)
Also:
- Passive Aggressive Notes. The Porchlight crew is looking to do some team building stuff – I think leaving notes like these for each other is just the exercise.
- I have eaten Subway twice in the last twenty-four hours. This cartoon resonates.
- Yes.
- How children lost the right to roam. I remember killing off the long, hot summer days of my youth walking or cycling all over town, no particular destination in mind, a few bucks from my mom in my pocket for lunch, or for the corner store, whatever. I wonder how many kids have that kind of freedom these days.
- You’ve seen those lame BrandPower commercials, right? Here’s a piece that calls it everything that’s wrong with traditional media.
One upside to the basement, and a house that’s free of family units and other visitors, is that I can turn the music up really loud. And I just found Bottled Lightning by C’mon on Oink, so that’s just what I’m gonna do.
